Child Development in Thailand

Child development focus on behavioral observant of the parents since the moment baby was born. Without verbal communication, are you capable of telling his requests? When the baby looks right into your eyes, is his mind is thinking of something and can you tell what he wants? During this time, infants usually use crying to communicate. Some cries may sound different than the others. A sudden low wail of cry followed by a long pause and a large inhalation, and another wail indicates infants are in pain. If the child needs are not met, that lack of needs can result in developmental delays or a compromised health and safety.

Early childhood education is especially crucial from zero to three years since the brain rapid development occurs within this interval. The thing a child sees, emotions he feels, hears and experiences, are ingredients for brain development. Everything a child reacts or involves within these first years will play great educational opportunity that will impact the child the rest of his life. So the answer to catch up with the fasting space requires family participation. Many studies reveal that parent participation plays vital role in child’s achievement.

Importance of play in child development cannot be too structured or too loose that it gives no lessons at all. Regimented play rips his capability of creativity and freedom of choice, resulting in negative consequences on social and emotional development of a child. Children need sufficient time to enjoy their own play and become deeply involved in their own terms.

As stated earlier, that each child chooses his own way to learn and accumulate experiences differently. However, for some children, a hurried lifestyle can result in increased pressure and finally a depression. The challenge is up to the parents to balance out activities that would not push their child over his comforting territory while allowing them to enjoy their times.

Basically, play is part of all of our innate longing. Play helps develop both IQ and EQ. But unfortunately, we have forgotten how we learned during the play when we were young. Instead of letting him emerge into his own playground, we push him into playing structured games, locking off his creativity unconsciously. Same goes for parents who leave the child with too much independent that they learn nothing during the process. Therefore, play is an art. It needs adaptation and needs be flexible. The parents need to learn child behavior under different circumstances for how he responds to new environment, deals with things that go wrong, what activities do he prefer, his adaptation to new toys, how long does it take to get used to, how to cope with activities he pays no mind. These things are indicators to the appropriate way to communicate with your child. Even the two brothers born from the same mother cannot be treated alike.

Failure to reach full potential comes from many reasons whether they are poverty, poor health and nutrition, or deficient care. The fact is, over 240 million children under 5 in developing countries find difficulties in reaching their full potential. For this reason, we are fully aware of the lack of development in child behavioral. For this are dedicated into making private hospital for child development in Thailand.

Understanding Child Development Stages as an Aid to The Assessment of Child Growth

Childhood is a period of a person’s life starting from birth to pre-adolescence, or from 0 months old to about the age of 8 or 9 years old. During this period of time the child grows and develops in body, intelligence, emotion, and social behavior. While children grow and develop at different rates, altogether, their levels of growth and development may be assessed along a time line and an average level of achievement can be derived. Child development stages are points along the time line of childhood where, on the average, children have completed an average level of competence in some area of growth and development and are ready to begin the next stage of development.

In child development stages, some growth or development is exhibited, achieved, or attained in body height, weight, and function, in motor skills, language and speech, vision, hearing, and social interaction. Each stage for a given area builds on the achievements of that area’s previous stage: growth and development.

Child development stages are arbitrary schedules for child growth and development. These schedules use age as the principle of division, as is expected if we are dividing a period of a lifetime, but the number of years included in schedules differ. Some schedules define childhood as the first six years of life while other extend to the age of thirteen. While we do normally define a child as one who is age 0 to 13, most recognize a division of that range into ages 0 to 6, or childhood 7 to 11, or pre-puberty, and 12 to 13, or puberty.

Among those schedules that consider only the first six years as childhood, some see four child development stages while others see thirteen. The ones with more stages actually divide the stages of those with fewer stages into more discrete sub-stages. Most schedules agree that there are four stages, but some schedules simply divide those four stages even further.

The four child development stages for schedules 0 to 6 years of age divide that segment into infant, ages 0 to 18 months, toddler, ages 18 months to 3 years, childhood, ages 3 to 5, and school age, ages 5 to 6.

Infancy can be sub-divided into 6 sub-divisions by age: month 1, 1 to 3 months, 3 to 6 months, 6 to 9 months, 9 to 12 months, and 12 to 18 months. By the end of infancy, the child is able to stand, walk or toddle, categorize, speak a few words, manipulate objects with gross actions, recognize pictures, and relate to others, perhaps with some anxiety, may wave, and is able to (to a degree) use a spoon. Toys are faithfully attended.

At the end of the toddler stage, the child walks, talks, climbs stairs, draws, stacks, plays with others, is toilet trained, requires only one nap, obeys simple commands, and baby fat has for the most part, disappeared.

From age 3 to 5, childhood proper, the child is able to run, skip on one foot, dress, brush teeth, feed self, knows right from left, recognizes and names colors and letters, draws shapes, plays games with other children, questions, and speaks fluently.

From ages 5 to 6, the child can skip on both feet, speaks with some malapropisms, draws complex shapes such as diamonds, is more independent, and capable of carrying out simple chores. The end of this stage shows the attainment of reason.

Child development stages describe average levels of attainment, but one should always keep in mind that children grow and develop at varying rates. The child who seemed small for her or his age, for instance, may end up being a towering basketball player. These schedules are to aid us in the assessment of a child’s growth, but these are not hard-and-fast rules.

Child Development Starts with Child Discipline

Child Development Starts with Child Discipline. Yes, no one likes an undisciplined child and discipline is essential to a child’s development. Disciplining a child is one of the biggest challenges faced by parents in today’s times. The author of http://babymodels.in (a child modeling website ) has some tips on the topic.

To every parent, his or her kid is the apple of their eye, no matter how mischievous. Child discipline is the primary concern of most parents. However, ignoring the child’s negative behavior for long can be perceived as encouraging them in their impressionable minds. In order to avoid this from happening, it is imperative that you use various disciplinary tools to teach your child to behave in a desired manner and to listen to you. This is an imperative aspect of Child Development.

Selecting an apt tool for disciplining their child is as much a test of their parenting skill as a test of the tool itself. In the past, a number of parents resorted to punishing their child for unruly behavior in order to discipline them. However, the results of the recently conducted surveys have proved beyond doubt that positive reinforcement works much better than the fear of punishment when it comes to Child Discipline.

]]>

To make sure that your child behaves in a certain fashion and listens to you, you should begin disciplining him or her in his or her toddler years. Use positive reinforcement methods to appreciate and reward accepted behavior. This is again a key step in child discipline. Once you do this, your child will automatically learn the value of positive behavior and himself try to steer clear of any misdemeanors such as not sharing, fighting with a sibling or throwing a temper tantrum, thus resulting in Child Development.

One of the most common tools that parents use to discipline their child from an early age is time-out. Though the concept of time-out appears watertight on paper, many parents face a problem when it comes to executing the same. The purpose of time-out is to make the child ponder over his action and its consequences. However, most parents find the entire exercise futile as the child keeps on shouting or wailing and just does not calm down.

To prevent this from happening, you need to talk to him and make him understand the importance of conducting himself in a desired manner. You need to understand that child development is a gradual process. You need patiently & regularly to instill in him the importance of following the instructions that are given to him and that any time he deviates he will have to bear the consequence for the same. Thus, do not wait to give a time-out to your kid for something that he has done 3 hours ago. Simply remove him from the situation then and there and place him in a quiet spot till he realizes his mistake.

However every parent should understand that every child is not emotionally equally sensitive. The every child development & child discipline needs to be carefully executed considering the tolerance of the child. In this article we have tried to highlight the importance of child discipline in the overall development of the child.

Child Development Stages

Article by Chris Saxby

You might be interested in learning the critical periods of brain development. As we know, learning doesn’t stop at school. Like me you’ve probably learnt more since you left school or college. There are however “windows of opportunity” that exist when the child’s brain will soak more information more easily. For example children learn language only by simple exposure to it, not by having to wade through books on grammar. If more than one language is spoken in your house, your child for example will pick up English and Spanish no problem.

Starting from birth, these are the major learning posts of child development.

Visual and hearing development. The best time when your child will learn to see and hear is from birth to aged 4 to 5. This is basic survival. The child needs to be able to see and interact with the world around them. You can help your baby exposing her to different shapes and colors and different noises and sound. Obviously, lots of talking and some Mozart is my recommendation!

Language. Your child will learn language form birth to about 10 years old, but 0 – 3 is the optimum period. Children need to hear you constantly talking, reading and singing to them, Give them constant praise for their babbling attempts.

Physical Development. The stage comes from birth aged to about 12 years of age. Its not the same for all children but you find that grossmotor skills such as walking and running occur before fine motor skills such as pen holding and eating with a fork or catching a ball.

Emotional and social development. The greatest advances made in this category will be between birth to aged 12. From birth to about 18 months the child will be forming attachments to its critical caregivers. This is the time to introduce aunties and uncles. Other emotional steps will be awareness of others and empathy.

Emotional intelligence is critical to your child’s future. In fact, the part of the brain that regulates emotion is called the amydala. It is shaped early on by the child’s experience and underpins her emotional wiring. Early nurturing is important to learning empathy, happiness, hopefulness and resiliency.

Social development, which involves both self-awareness and a child’s ability to interact with others, will also occur in stages. For example, sharing toys is something that a 2-year old’s brain is not fully developed to do well, so this social ability is more common and positive with toddlers who are 3 or older. Your efforts as a parent to nurture and guide a child will be critical in laying healthy foundations for social and emotional development.

In conclusion, the development of a child’s brain is fundamental to his or her child future. The first years of your child’s life go past very quickly. So talk, touch, read, smile, sing, count and play with your children. It does more than make both of you feel good. It helps a child’s brain develop and nourishes the child’s potential for her life ahead.

Piaget’s Theories of Assimilation, Accommodation, And Child Development

Piaget’s theories of assimilation, accommodation, and child development have been used in educational practices for several years. These theories help us understand how children and adults think and understand. This article will discuss Piaget’s theories of assimilation, accommodation, and child development in detail.

Piaget studied sciences for many years before he delved into the realm of human development. He wrote many papers by the young age of 21, and he is known for his work with mollusks (Atherton, 2009). Although, Piaget was a biologist for many years he is most known for his work with child development. He studied child development by assigning children exercise and simply talking with them. Through his studies he developed his theories of assimilation and accommodation. These theories have played a huge role in educational theory since then.

Assimilation is one of Piaget’s theories on children and perception. This theory discusses how a child perceives the world around him. It suggests that a child may alter what he sees around him in order to make sense with the world he already knows. This means that a child will simplify external objects in order to fit into his preconceived notion of reality (Atherton, 2009). In assimilation a child does not change his own beliefs of the world; he instead changes his perception of what he is learning or seeing in the world. This practice may harm child development if it is not passed because it causes stereotypes which may lead to an inability to deal with reality.

Accommodation is a more complex part of perception that occurs in child development. This part of Piaget’s theories suggests that a child will change his inside world in order to fit with the outside world he perceives. Accommodation is a part of Piaget’s theories that influences how a child will adapt to his surroundings (Atherton, 2009). This part of child development means that when a child can not fit something he perceives into a category that already exists in his perception of the world he changes preexisting categories or adds new categories in order to accommodate this perception (Atherton, 2009).

Piaget’s theories on assimilation and accommodation are important when trying to understand how humans perceive the world. Assimilation and accommodation are both important for child development, and Piaget theorizes that they are both occurring at the same time. These theories are beneficial to teachers, students, parents, and anyone who wants to understand how humans perceive reality.

Stimulating Child Development

The development of your child is a complex and involved process, spanning a number of different physical and mental elements. Encouraging the mental development of your child, in terms of sociality, intellect and emotion is crucial in raising a well-rounded child to progress to adulthood, although it can often be quite difficult to think of creative and effective ways to stimulate this kind of development in your child. Given its importance, this kind of child development should be conducted both in and out of the classroom environment, to provide a consistent, efficient approach to growth and mental strength. In this article, we will look at some of the ways you as a parent can help stimulate your child’s development.

Stimulating child development is a crucial part of raising a child, and requires creativity as much as consideration and thought for the requirements of mature thought and intellect. As a parent, it can often be hard to understand how best to stimulate your child intellectually, and of course there are no rulebooks telling you how it must be done. A great deal of the process comes down to exercising common sense, and understanding the needs and requirements of your child. Through constant interaction with your child, you can help gain a better understanding of the emotional and physical needs which you should then cater to whilst pushing for intellectual development and challenge.

As a parent, you should actively look to immerse your child in reading and writing suitable for their stage of development, whilst also prompting basic numeracy and problem solving capabilities. This combined with the opportunity for creative expression should be a great way to encourage your child and build confidence, as well as creating and strengthening the social bond between parent and child. This kind of interaction and stimulation will ultimately improve your child’s social skills, and help emphasise the importance of emotional intelligence, as a supplement to social and academic intelligence.

By providing a range of activities for your child to accomplish, and providing praise and reward for successful completion, you can make learning and development fun for your child, and install a sense of passion as regards learning and self improvement. Through providing constant stimulation for your child, in balance with an emphasis on self dependence, you can create a suitable environment for personal and social development as your child ages and matures.

Child development is not set in stone, and it can be quite difficult to get it perfect every time. Similarly it takes a bit of getting to know your child and interaction on a parental basis, which again will differ from family to family. What is important, however, is that you present a consistent approach to parenting, providing the levels of intellectual and emotional stimulation required by your child at the various stages of development to raise your child to its full potential. By working in-sync with your local school and the educational development of your child, you can give him or her the best chance of success later down the line.
